Council for Administration

Development of specialist business and administration standards for school administrators

The Council for Administration (CfA) is working with the TDA to address specialist business and administration skills needs within the education sector. A level 3 administration standard has been drafted as part of the project. This draft standard (Unit 334 Provide Administrative Support in Schools) was piloted from 1 November to 31 December 2006.

School administrators, their line managers and assessors are vital for the piloting process. You will provide us with your feedback on standard design, language, content and assessment, by commenting on the draft standard in relation to your current role within your school. To download the relevant documents and participate in the pilot please visit the CfA website.

When finalised, the new specialist standard will become part of the suite of national occupational standards (NOS) for business and administration at level 3. NOS are the agreed set of competences required for a role and are often used for performance management, developing job descriptions, supporting recruitment and selection and as the basis of training and qualifications.

If you require any further guidance, please contact Rita-Sue Meintjes at CfA
