This section is about working with and involving parents and families, and making links with the wider community outside school hours.

The school years

  • The working with parents pages offer information on developing successful home-school links, access to the parental involvement e-newsletter and the latest research and case studies
  • ParentsCentre offers information and support for parents on how to help with their children's learning, as well as tips on dealing with issues such as bullying , truancy and internet safety. The site also has discussion forums for parents and an 'ask the expert' facility.
  • Information about child protection includes advice and good practice for all school staff on dealing with suspected child abuse
  • The voluntary organisations and charities listed in this section all offer advice to schools on dealing with issues such as child safety, abuse and behaviour
  • Find out about extended schools and how their services can help meet the needs of pupils, families and the wider community
  • Building learning communities is about improving the opportunities for learning for all children and young people in disadvantaged areas, both in and outside school.
