Pupils Equal Opportunities Policy means Learning for Everyone
Adoption of Pupils' Equal Opportunities Policy at the heart of the college's activities ensures students have a democratic voice within tutor groups which fosters cohesion from within. -
Raising self-esteem of Roma pupils
The aim of the project is to raise the self-esteem of Roma pupils as well as the profile of the pupils within the school and wider community. -
'Fly with me'
Using the book 'Fly with me' which has a central character of a hobby horse the imagination of the targeted Gypsy, Roma and Traveller children, their older siblings and parents was captured which significantly raised attainment. -
Family identity
The school is predominantly from white British backgrounds and the percentage of pupils entitled to free school meals is almost three times the national average. There has been a shift in school culture to embrace community and create a sense of family identity. -
Role models
Senior staff are encouraged to become role models which has contributed to ethnic minority achievement particularly of black and mixed heritage boys. -
Raising achievement through emotional intelligence
The aim of the school, which is predominantly White British, is to use different initiatives to raise achievement through emotional intelligence, and to build on that learning by improving transition between school phases. -
Whole-School Learning
Taking a whole-school approach to teaching pupils with English as an additional language and engaging with the community.
