Social and pastoral issues

Many aspects of school life involve attending to the mental and physical welfare of pupils and to the wider human framework made up of other staff, parents, governors and beyond.

As well as the information in this area, you may find the links to the following parts of TeacherNet useful:

  • Social and emotional aspects of learning
A voluntary programme designed to develop the social and emotional skills of all pupils.
  • Bullying
Read up on good practice for tackling bullying, including reports, research, articles and an anti-bullying pack.
  • Managing medicines in schools
This section provides information on supporting pupils absent from school on medical grounds, or with medical conditions. It includes links to guidance and classroom support materials.
