Do it 4 Real 2009

Do it 4 Real is a national residential activity programme delivered by the Youth Hostel Association, for young people from all walks of life aimed at providing 10 to 16-year-olds with structured adventure and creative activities during the summer holidays. Around ten thousand young people will attend camps at over 20 sites in England in 2009. Camps are run from Sunday until Friday: five nights and four full days of activities. All camp places are subsidised, with young people contributing to the cost of their stay based on their economic situation. In 2009 camp places will be offered at £299, £150 and £49.

The scheme aims to offer young people the opportunity to mix with their peers, have a fun-filled time in a safe environment while enjoying new and challenging experiences and activities.

Activities include:

  • water sports
  • media
  • performing arts
  • make me a star
  • mountain biking
  • paintballing
  • quad biking
  • archery
  • abseiling

Taking part in a residential summer camp gives young people the opportunity to develop self-discipline, self-respect and self-confidence enabling them to communicate more effectively with a range of people and work in a team.
