Liven up your lessons and enrich the curriculum by making use of the wealth of education resouces in your local community. Many organisations offer exciting days out for pupils and a variety of activities tailored directly to the national curriculum. This ever-expanding section contains a directory of visits of educational value, as well as information on school journeys, outdoor education centres and a guide to after-school clubs.

The 14 to 19 pathfinders are demonstrating how the enriching influence of community resources is set to become more central to the secondary education system. Collaborations between schools and other organisations will be key in providing a wider choice of curriculum pathways to 14— to 19-year-olds.

Extended schools collaborate closely with the community. They make their facilities available to pupils' families and the wider public, while in turn providing children with a broader experience and higher standards of education.

New content is being added all the time, so please check back soon. In the meantime, if you would like to recommend a site to be included in this section, please do so here.
