Life Education
This is the UK's largest children's health education charity, working with schools, parents and communities to help children make healthy choices.
The Life Education sessions, which take place either in the charity's purpose-built mobile classrooms or in schools themselves, support the PSHE curriculum (including the Social and Emotional Aspects of Learning curriculum), helping schools to meet the five key targets in the Every Child Matters programme. Schools also use the Life Education visits to support activities that help them to achieve 'Healthy Schools' status.
Four case studies on the Life Education website illustrate some of the ways the charity works with widely differing schools, as follows:
- Developing Emotional Wellbeing — including drugs awareness, in rural England
- Engaging parents and children in an area of high economic deprivation
- Introducing very young children in an isolated community to positive health messages
- Engaging children and teachers with informed messages on drugs and alcohol and achieving Healthy School Status
