Action when young people leave learning

Jim Knight has requested that schools and academies with sixth forms notify Connexions when young people aged 16 to 19 (or up to 25 for those with learning difficulties and/or disabilities) leave learning. Identifying young people leaving learning so that action can be taken to re-engage them is crucial to raising participation, increasing attainment and reducing NEET (not in education, employment or training).

This requirement could be met by a simple telephone call and formalises existing good practice through an expectation that schools providing post-16 learning will notify Connexions.
