Induction research report: Evaluation of the statutory arrangements for the induction of newly qualified teachers

The report Evaluation of the Effectiveness of the Statutory Arrangements for the Induction of Newly Qualified Teachers was published on 23 May 2002.

The research involved:

  • surveys of newly qualified teachers (NQTs) undergoing induction in 1999 to 2000 and 2000 to 2001
  • questionnaires to headteachers, induction tutors and appropriate body induction personnel
  • telephone interviews with induction personnel in appropriate bodies and teacher supply agencies
  • case studies with 24 schools, including interviews with NQTs, induction tutors and headteachers.
