Biography:
Dr Jake Reynolds, DCSF's Senior Adviser on Sustainable Development.
In this role he co-developed the Department's National Framework for Sustainable Schools which sets out where schools should be by 2020 with regard to their sustainability. The framework has been welcomed by many schools and local authorities, and is proving a useful focus for action. In 2007, Jake produced the popular report Every Child's Future Matters which shows how sustainable development is central to improving child wellbeing. Jake is currently supporting the Department's efforts to cut carbon emissions in the schools sector.
Previously, Jake was Deputy Director of the Cambridge Programme for Industry where he helped to focus the organisation around sustainable development, learning and leadership. Before that he worked for the UN's environmental information centre in Cambridge through which he supported projects in East Africa, the Caribbean and South Asia. Jake has a DPhil from the University of Oxford.
Teddy Crane, Teacher
Teddy Crane has been teaching at Charles Dickens Primary School for nearly six years. He is a member of the School's senior leadership team and is also a school governor. Teddy is responsible for the coordination of science, design and technology, and leads the School's environmental projects including the garden which was started nearly three years ago on a piece of wasteland. He has no formal training in gardening or horticulture so is learning all the time with the children.
